Cena Cypriani (Cyprian’s Feast), a very amusing but obscure Latin (probably Late Antique) opuscle, attracted attention of M. Bakhtin, U. Eco, and many others but there is no consensus regarding its meaning or purpose. This study, gathering a rich and so far mostly unnoticed source material, reveals the exciting and frequently surprising specific contexts and details of the ways it was read and perceived during the Middle Ages. Besides offering a particular reception case study, the book is useful for those interested in reception in general, too.
