This research explores the complex discussions surrounding the risks of dogmatically accepting religious testimonies versus the destructive nature of historic Pyrrhonism. It initiates an examination of the polemic on the value of fides historica, drawing from Gronovius' interventions as a pivotal moment highlighting the philosophical debate on the certainty of history, its value, limits, and the conditions enabling knowledge of it. The study of documented facts, such as Lex Regia, necessitates a rejection of abstract conceptual overlaps, emphasizing the historical depth of erudite antiquarian work. This work becomes crucial in the theoretical-historiographical discourse, representing a new synthesis of philosophical history and antiquarian methods, blending erudition with philosophy, reason with history. Fabrizio Lomonaco, a Professor of History of Philosophy at the University of Naples "Federico II," is actively involved in editorial roles for several journals, including "Archivio di storia della cultura" and "Bollettino del Centro di studi vichiani."
