Austrian artist Brigitte Kratochwill was a Music, Art, and German Language teacher in Salzburg until 1999, where she also led various art projects and served as Headmistress of the Secondary Modern School Bürmoos from 1999 to 2013. Since 1988, she has actively exhibited in Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Luxembourg, and South Africa at numerous venues, including Galerie Artroom 21 and ART MARKET Budapest. Her recent works explore themes of concentration, contemplation, and metamorphosis, reflecting her journey into the subconscious. Kratochwill integrates sensory experiences into her painting process, resulting in a confrontation with her soul's reflection. This process involves rejecting and altering elements, allowing for the letting go of cherished aspects. Her overpaintings create a multilayered quality, emphasizing a search for essential truths and a sense of reduction and rest. By applying multiple layers, she achieves the desired surface structure, intentionally overpainting finished sections to reveal hidden depths that remain perceptible. Through this method, she expresses truthfulness, coherence, and visual authenticity in her art.
