Viac o knihe
The idea for this book emerged from a scientific workshop in January 2009, organized in collaboration with the Club of Rome and the European Support Centre during the FP7 support action ICT-ENSURE at UNESCO Paris. This initiative focuses on the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in promoting environmental sustainability. It connects various European expert communities across fields such as climate change, natural resource management, environmental risk, energy efficiency, health, agriculture, and biodiversity. Scientific surveys and workshops serve as the foundation for evaluating the current significance of ICT applications and future research needs in this area. By adopting a trans-disciplinary approach, the project aims to uncover synergies and enhance communication among experts from diverse technical and non-technical backgrounds. At the Paris workshop, participants discussed the relevance of ICT in biodiversity, agriculture, and agrodiversity. The productive exchanges among experts led to the decision to compile this book, which addresses various aspects of ICT applications in environmental sustainability, fostering further discussions and scientific collaboration.
