I fled out of my country at the age of twenty-one, after having been raped repeatedly as a child, kidnapped twice, stoned, and forced into a 7-year battle to cure my homosexuality; soon before I fled I was suicidal. A European came into my life and rescued me, proof of the healing power of love. Subsequently, my family rejected me because of my homosexuality. I wrote a book that tells exactly what happened--not to attract your sympathy. Oh, no! The book's only noble purpose is to wake others up and give a new perspective on life. Misery might have killed the child in me, but it has strengthened the man within. We all have our own backpacks to carry. Why not put the past behind us, when we can live the now? You live the now, don't you?
