After years on the run and a stint in federal prison, he spent six years in a Zen monastery, ultimately achieving recognition as a Zen master in his fifties. His experiences culminate in the creation of Mondo Zen, a unique form of Buddhism shaped by his profound personal journey through adversity and transformation.
