The critical edition of Descartes' unfinished work, Regulce ad directionem ingenii, arose from doubts regarding the established text by Ch. Adam, prompting a thorough examination of various sources. The authors compared the Hanover manuscript with the Amsterdam first edition and the neglected 17th-century Dutch version, leading to significant revisions.
