The research focuses on developing mucoadhesive hydrogel microspheres for controlled drug release using cinnarizine, chitosan, and methylcellulose. It explores drug delivery systems through polymer complexes and hydrogel networks while emphasizing gastroretention and bioadhesion for weakly basic drugs. The study employs response surface methodology to optimize various parameters, demonstrating that a two-factor central composite design effectively addresses nonlinear responses in drug delivery systems. Results suggest that interpenetrating polymer networks are promising for enhancing the delivery of weakly basic medications.
