Focusing on micro-economic models, this book explores trade through stable bilateral exchange institutions and addresses the challenge of equilibrium existence in these contexts. It introduces hierarchically structured economies and examines the application of subgame perfect equilibrium. The text discusses limitations and adaptations of this concept, demonstrating how familiar market forms like Walrasian and monopolistic markets emerge as special cases. A modified subgame perfect equilibrium is presented, culminating in a general theorem regarding equilibrium existence in these economies.
