Europe and North Africa describes the Allied response to the blitzkrieg that established German superiority in western Europe in 1939. It follows the British, Americans, and their allies as they fought the Germans and Italians in the deserts of North Africa. From Africa, the Allied campaign spread to Sicily and on to the Italian mainland. While the Germans resisted advances in Italy, D-Day opened a new frontin northern France, signaling the beginning of the end for Hitler's Third Reich.
