To this day there are still numerous monasteries which remain centres of the art of brewing beer. One of the famous ist the Bavarian Benedictine monastery of Andechs. Father Anselm Bilgri, prior and cellarer on the Holy Mountain just outside Munich, with Birgit Adam and Peter Köhler presents culinary and healing recipes made with beer. Not only archive material from the monastic brewery but modern healing methods both confirm that the old and trusted food, beer, can be used in many ways, not only for cooking but also for healing many illnesses.
