It is not only our global economy that keeps the world together. This collection of essays investigates what unites humankind. Is there something like an archetypal world ethos that applies across cultures? The authors, renowned theologians, philosophers, scholars in religious studies and cultural scientists, travel around the world analysing the interrelatedness between culture and ethos. Paramount are the unwritten ethical norms that apply everywhere in the world. They are obviously at the heart of mankind’s common ethos, a kind of world ethos that falls back onto analogous ethical imperatives.
