Viac o knihe

Between 1980 and 1981, road construction uncovered 23 graves [Dürrnberg no. 201-223] containing at least 66 individuals, part of the northernmost necropolis of the Dürrnberg, dating from Ha D2/3 to Lt C1. These graves, typical of the Dürrnberg, featured biritual burials in wooden chambers surrounded by stone, originally covered by barrows and occasionally enclosed by circular or square stone structures. All graves were disturbed to varying degrees due to secondary burials or looting. Despite this, high-quality artifacts, including weaponry and adornments [chariot, helmet, sword, jewelry], indicate the graves' status comparable to the “princely graves” of the Dürrnberg. Notably, some of the helmets are among the earliest iron examples in Central Europe. The few Hallstatt graves present also reflect upper-class status, evidenced by gold armrings and bronze vessels. Most individuals buried were young males. The food offerings, consistent with previous findings, predominantly featured meat-rich parts of small cattle.
