Werner Kaiser was one of the outstanding figures in German Egyptology, shaping a whole generation of German and international scholars through his work at the Egyptian Museum in West Berlin and as the first director of the DAI Cairo. The memorial volume published by the DAI Cairo gathers a multitude of his colleagues and friends, who honor Kaiser’s life and work through short contributions. The included articles cover all areas of Egyptological research, from ceramics from the cemetery of Abydos to workers' settlements in Dahshur and votives in Meroitic sanctuaries, reflecting the diverse interests of Kaiser himself. This volume not only addresses the fields of Werner Kaiser's influence but also provides contemporary scholars with a detailed insight into past and modern Egyptological research.
