No water, no life. A simple formula - it means that on this planet we are dependent on water but also endangered by it. It has always been risky to settle on river-banks. But rising water levels and increasingly heavy inland rains thanks to climate change now create completely new challenges. It is essential to integrate water dynamically in our living space, wherever and however it may occur. Examples in this issue range from river revitalisation in Los Angeles, through the Delta Plan in the Netherlands, to the restoration of the River Fez in Morocco and water management in the Chinese city of Taijin
