Twenty-four-year-old Naomi Ackerman, a New York bookseller, is eager to write a novel but struggles to find the right story. After a series of failed Tinder dates, she meets Caleb, a kind man with a Welsh accent who seems to embody the theme of love she's been searching for. However, her world is upended when she discovers that Caleb's ex-girlfriend, Rosemary, is not overseas as she thought, but lives in New York and works in the literary scene. Rosemary appears to be a more accomplished version of Naomi, igniting both her jealousy and curiosity. As Naomi investigates their shared connection, her casual Instagram stalking evolves into a deceptive friendship with Rosemary. This unexpected bond provides Naomi with inspiration for her novel, but it also leads her to manipulate those around her—family, friends, Caleb, and Rosemary—as she blurs the lines between reality and fiction.
