Assessment of Enviromental "Hot Spots" in Iraq

Commissioned by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), this report assesses the level of contamination at five industrial sites in Iraq. It presents data gathered inside of Iraq by experts from the newly established Ministry of Environment, supplemented with satellite imagery. Samples were analyzed in international laboratories. The volume concludes with some recommendations and associated cost estimates for cleaning up the worst sites and dealing with hazardous waste on a national level.
