In previous editions of my memoir on the influence of the blue color of the sky in developing life, an erroneous impression arose due to ambiguous language regarding my experiments with light. I initially believed that the glass used in my terraced garden was violet, attributing remarkable results in the grapery to violet rays. However, upon further investigation, I discovered that the glass was actually a dark mazarine blue, colored by a cobalt preparation fused during its manufacture. The violet reflection observed was due to the irregular surface of the glass interacting with light from both the fire and sunlight. Thus, any effects attributed to violet glass are actually due to the proportion of blue rays within the composite violet rays, rather than the violet rays themselves.
