Barbara Everette, a homemaker in a small Mississippi town, seemingly leads the perfect life: a flawless husband, children, home, and Christian faith. She excels at every suburban task, from cooking to running the PTA and teaching kung-fu. However, the pressure of perfection becomes unbearable, leading her to demand "one weekend off" for herself. Determined to escape, she leaves her inept husband behind in search of peace and authentic Cajun cuisine. Meanwhile, Detective Sergeant Kelly Lockhart of New Orleans Homicide faces a perplexing case with no suspects despite DNA evidence from multiple victims. His only clue, a mysterious fish scale, has vanished in the FBI Crime Lab. Guided by an old fortune-teller, he ventures into the bayou, following leads about a mysterious pimp, with a warning to "watch for the Princess." Unbeknownst to them, Barbara and Kelly's paths are destined to cross, potentially revealing divine intervention. As they navigate the swamps, they discover that the Bayou Ripper's mystery is intertwined with Special Circumstances, hinting at deeper connections and unforeseen consequences.
