Anatoly Dobrynin arrived in Washington, D.C., in 1962 ― at 43 the youngest man ever to serve as Soviet Ambassador to the United States ― and remained through the presidencies of Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan.
