The wind, known as a sirocco, sweeps across the Slave Coast of Africa, bringing with it peril for Donland, who is left with only half of Oxford’s crew and armament. Newly married, he faces the tyrannical governor's orders to eliminate a Spanish frigate captured by pirates targeting slave traders. Hiding a frigate proves challenging in a region filled with rivers and coves, each fraught with hidden dangers. As Donland navigates these threats, he must also contend with betrayal and deceit. He understands that a trap relies on predictable prey behavior; if he can identify the trap before it is sprung, he can choose his response—whether to evade, counterattack, or confront with overwhelming force. However, capturing the frigate will not be straightforward, especially if the brig offers support. The stakes are high, and survival is uncertain. Donland knows that sharp observation and the patience of a hawk are essential. While he has learned the value of patience, his daring nature drives him to confront and defeat the pirates. A skilled fighter, he matches wits with his adversaries and has little tolerance for incompetence. When the trap is finally sprung, it becomes a decisive moment of victory or defeat.
