Art. FLATNESSISGOD presents a thorough exploration of the basic practiceof seeing and consuming the second dimention. The pages contain paintings, basic design studies, image and type experiments, logo developments, layouts, graffiti converted into corporate logos, art haiku, and mistranslated text from Japanese candy. Ryan McGuinness is an artist who has exhibited his work internationally and has been responsible for numerous events and pranks. His work makes strong social commentary on iconography, language, and historical and contemporary symbolism. His use of visual codes and signifiers subverts the very systems in which he operates. He has designed music packaging, posters, magazine spreads, and corporate identities for some of today's major bands, publications, and organizations.
