This book offers a fresh and comprehensive look at a complex topic. The volume is divided into two constitutional politics and the impact of federalism across policy fields. The section on constitutional politics examines topics ranging from executive federalism to Aboriginal self-government in the wake of the Charlottetown Accord. The ten chapters in the policy section examine trends in the evolution of the division of powers in a large number of areas including economic policy, social policy, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the environment.
