This wide-ranging pictorial survey is a unique record of South Africa's fascinating maritime history and of the dynamic activity in the country's harbours and shipping lanes today. Most of the 400 photographs -- many of them in full colour -- are published here for the first time and are accompanied by an authoritative but readable text, mainly in the form of extended captions highlighting features of historical, technical and anecdotal interest.
