Far into Russia in this the second year of the campaign, the German soldier became familiar with the insidiousness of the enemy lands, from the dangerous muddy runways, to the homicidal winters. In mostly previously unpublished breathtaking color photos, the 1942 campaign in Soviet Russia is brought to life; from the breakthrough to the Volga and Stalingrad, to the Caucasus Mountains.
