The Jackson Twins, Jason and Nikki have just moved from the city to live on the edge of a large town. Sue and Ron Dwyer, their neighbours train race horses and have offered the twins a weekend away at the country races if they help with the horses.The race meeting is a happy experience for Jason and Nikki and they end up spending the night at the Johnson's farm. At the farm they learn about sheep, shearing sheds, Kangaroos and horses.On the trip back home they find a orphan "joey" which they take home to rear. Back at school they have both decided to work very hard so they get good school reports at the end of the year.While at the farm Mr. Johnson offered to give them the pony Moon Dance but the twins's mother and father have to be convinced that both Jason and Nikki are able to earn enough money to keep Moon Dance as well as continuing to complete their school work satisfactorily.
