The 11th volume of the "Yearbook of the Museum for Art History in Vienna" focuses on mythology and the reception of Friedrich Polleross writes about history as myth at the Imperial Court, Rudolf Preimesberger tells us about Caravaggio's reading of Valerius Maximus, and Andrea Sommer-Mathis analyses musical myths from Antiquity in the librettos of the Viennese Court. Javier Portus presents enlightening details about mythology and the identity of the artist in Velazquez, and Johannes Myssok writes about the misunderstood "Theseus" by Antonio Canova. Numerous additional articles present up-to-date research and studies from the museum. The "Yearbook of the Museum for Art History in Vienna" is one of the oldest art-historical periodicals of international renown. Its traditional objective is to present the most current research results on the extensive inventory and the history of the different collections of the museum.
