This collection features over 240 recipes showcasing the diverse produce of France, highlighting a lesser-known aspect of French cuisine that has been passed down through generations. This home cooking, steeped in history and tradition, is a staple in family kitchens and country inns across the nation. The book connects the rich culinary traditions of each region to its history and geography, emphasizing the unique contributions of local ingredients such as oysters, cassoulet, hochepot, and bourride, along with the wines and beers that complement them. Stunning photographs illustrate the varied landscapes of France, from the rugged southern hills and coastal fishing villages to the lush Loire pastures and vibrant Mediterranean coasts, as well as the alpine regions and volcanic plateaus. The recipes are curated by the Scotto Sisters—Marianne Comolli, Elisabeth Scotto, and Michele Carles—who grew up in Paris and spent their childhood summers in the French countryside. Each section of the book tells a story of France’s rich regional gastronomy, beautifully narrated by Author Pludlowski and captured in vivid color by photographers Pierre Hussenot and Leo Meier.
