When the bird-cherry trees bloom in the spring, when the summer is fully green, when the golden and sparkling autumn arrives, and when the whiteness of winter is so very silent, the red towers of the Turaida Castle rise above the dark forests of the ancient valley of the Gauja River. They invite us to come and see the diverse colours of nature - those which are eternal and those which change all the time. The towers allow us to feel the beauty of nature, and they also lead us forever to remember that alongside the ornate environment that is all around this location, evidence of the destiny of our nation is also found. This encourages us to find out the way in which human generations changed over the course of the centuries even though the colours of nature never disappeared. Thus we can learn about the waves along which their lives sailed.
