This edition includes an original introduction and scene notes, presenting the complete shooting script of a poignant and humorous film about a family navigating Thanksgiving Day in New York City's Lower East Side. 21-year-old April Burns (Katie Holmes), who has a strained relationship with her mother (Patricia Clarkson), is persuaded by her boyfriend (Derek Luke) to host the family dinner. As she grapples with a broken oven and seeks help from neighbors, the Burns family drives to the city, reminiscing about April's past failures. April's father (Oliver Platt) is determined to create a memorable experience despite his wife's undermining remarks, while the family includes April's perfect-daughter sister, younger brother, and forgetful grandmother. The edition features 20 black-and-white photos. Peter Hedges, a versatile director, screenwriter, playwright, and novelist, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for "About a Boy." He has also adapted "A Map of the World" and authored "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." A graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts
