Biton Savakis, a 42-year-old wealthy lawyer in New York City, is struggling to cope with the loss of his beloved slave, Erik, who died three months prior. Feeling adrift, he encounters a forlorn redhead named Cavan, who appears just as lost. Cavan, who has never chosen the life of a slave, was brutally mistreated by his former Master and now only knows servitude. When Biton offers him a temporary contract, Cavan sees it as a chance for a new home and purpose, unaware of the deeper implications of his new Master's intentions. Biton, grappling with his own grief, believes that refraining from dominant play with Cavan, an abused submissive, is necessary for healing. However, he struggles with the idea of not discussing a permanent arrangement. As the thirty-day contract expires, Cavan fears that Biton won't offer him a new one.
