Henry Patrick Raleigh (1880-1944) was an influential American illustrator whose work captured the essence of the Gatsby era. Rising from a school dropout at age 12 to a celebrated illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post within two decades, he became one of the highest-paid artists in the U.S. during his nearly forty-year career. Raleigh created iconic World War I propaganda posters and was a leading story illustrator of the Jazz Age. By age 43, he had produced an astounding 20,000 illustrations, making him one of the most prolific commercial artists of his time. His work appeared in major publications like Harper's Bazaar, Collier's, and Vanity Fair, and visually complemented the writings of literary figures such as H.G. Wells, William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Agatha Christie. This volume features a wealth of rarely seen photographs and illustrations from the private collection of his grandson, Christopher Raleigh. Most illustrations are scanned from the originals to ensure high-quality reproduction.
