One day, John Marquane, a former writer for the Harvard Lampoon, realized that The Catcher in the Rye was written in the voice of Donald J. Trump. With the November 2016 election approaching, he set out to create a parody that reimagines Salinger’s classic through the eyes of the Republican nominee as he struggles in the polls just days before the election. Join America’s least phony candidate as he evades his running mate, Pencey, dons his iconic red Make America Great Again hat, and embarks on a meandering journey to understand the purpose of political life. Will Trump falter? Can the U.S. elect a president whose issues mirror those of a fictional teenager?
