Viac o knihe
Focusing on the transformative role of missionaries in Dark Age Europe, the book highlights their impact on pagan societies as they introduced Christian beliefs and culture. These figures, such as St. Augustine in England, not only facilitated the transition from tribal life to a more 'civilized' existence influenced by Roman heritage but also documented the cultures they encountered, positioning them as some of Europe's earliest historians. Their dual role as agents of change and chroniclers of history is a central theme.
