Kniha je Dalajlámovým komentářem o duchovní přípravě na smrt a je inspirována klasickým textem tibetského buddhismu – básní ze 17. století, jejímž autorem je první pančhenlama. Tuto značně ezoterní báseň Jeho Svatost 14. Dalajlama komentuje a rozvádí do konkrétních rad pro každodenní život. Vysvětluje, jak a proč meditovat o pomíjivosti, jak vytvořit vhodné prostředí pro umírající, jak praktikovat během umírání. Zvlášť podrobně vysvětluje jednotlivá stadia umírání i způsob, jak si vštěpovat jejich posloupnost, aby naše umírání probíhalo beze strachu a aby hlubší stavy mysli, k nimž během umírání dochází, mohly být využity pro duchovní praxi všech úrovní. Celý výklad prokládá příběhy o vysoce duchovně vyvinutých mniších a mniškách, s nimiž se sám setkal, a seznamuje čtenáře také s událostmi kolem volby posledního pančhenlamy tak, jak je sám prožíval.

O knihe Martina Moravcová sa narodila 16.januára 1976 v Piešťanoch. Plávať začala ako šesťročná na piešťanskom kúpalisku Eva. Jej prvou trénerkou bola mama, potom sa jej až do konca roka 1994 trénersky venovala Věra Čamborová, neskôr Ladislav Hlavatý a Steve Collins, ktorý ju vedie až do teraz. Od vstupu na svetovú športovú scénu mala jej plavecká kariéra takmer nepretržite stúpajúci trend a ona sa zaradila medzi najvýznamnejšie plavecké osobnosti. V rokoch 1992 - 2003 absolvovala s jedinou výnimkou všetky vrcholné podujatia v dlhom i krátkom bazéne
