A Celebration
A look at the life and times of the Höfner company who celebrated 125 years in business in 2012. The book looks at the history, the Beat Boom years of the 1960 and just generally takes the reader on a meandering tour around this charming small string instrument and guitar manufacturer. The whole thing is interlaced with contemporary images from the years gone by.
The narrative chronicles a four-month journey through China, highlighting iconic landmarks such as the Great Wall, the terracotta warriors in Xi'an, and the stunning cliffs along the Li River. The author also reflects on the 1991 Rugby World Cup happening in Europe and includes newspaper clippings, providing a cultural context. Additionally, the backdrop of the journey is shaped by the political climate just two years after the Tiananmen Massacre. These personal accounts were later published on the author's Wordpress in 2019.
