Edouard Baribeaud’s art reflects his bilingualism and bi-cultural background as the son of a French father and a German mother. Growing up in France, he studied at the École Nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and has been based in Berlin since 2010. His works merge various styles, blending the everyday with the mythical, guiding archaic figures through contemporary settings while intertwining real experiences with imagined memories. Baribeaud showcases his skill as a craftsman and storyteller, drawing viewers into fantastical scenes that navigate between East and West. His first monograph features collections such as The Hour of the Gods (2014-2015), The Nocturnal Vault (2015-2017), and An Old Story for Our Modern Times (2018), along with an Hermès scarf (2016). The book includes essays by Imran Ali Khan, Pay Matthis Karstens, and Sabine Thümmler. An exhibition of his work took place at Galerie Judin in Berlin from April 28 to June 9, 2018.
