The Black Country Museum was established in 1975 to collect, preserve, research and display items relating to the social and industrial history of the Black Country area and to arrange exhibitions, lectures, displays and publications. This included the construction of an industrial museum. The first buildings were moved to the museum in 1976 and since then the 26 acre site has been developed to show a little of the unique living and working conditions of the Black Country.
