Vo všetkých situáciách, kde zlyháva či nestačí ľudská múdrosť, predvídavosť, logika, úsilie, Boh obdarúva svoje deti darmi uzdrävovania, múdrosti, proroctva, slz… ]eho dary sú pre nás východiskom z neriešiteľných situácií či chvíľ, keď beznádejne pozeráme na biedu svoju či iných. Sú však darom aj pre tie celkom najobyčajnejšie chvíle, keď sa v nás rozhorí modlitba (v jazykoch) pri čistení zemiakov či zažijeme nesmiernu radosť pri pohľade na nečakanú scenériu, ktorá sa pred nami vynorí pri šoférovaní. Kniha ]ohna Talbota nás prevedie školou poznávania darov Ducha. Ani nie tých „klasických“, siedmich, ako skôr darov, ktoré spomína apoštol Pavol v Prvom liste Korinťanom. V jeho 12. a 13 kapitole spomína slovo múdrosti, slovo poznania, vieru, dar uzdravovať, schopnosť robiť zázraky, prorokovať, rozlišovať duchov, dar rozličných jazykov… a dar lásky. Autor veľmi zdôrazňuje, že takmer všetky dary sú určené pre spoločenstvo, pre službu. Neraz sú pre obdarovaného bremenom, ktoré má však s láskou a pokorou niesť. Po týchto daroch treba túžiť s čistým a pokorným srdcom.
