Ute Krause, ktorej detstvo formovalo detstvo strávené v Turecku, Nigérii, na Cypre a v Indii, sa po rokoch strávených v USA usadila v Berlíne. Jej umelecká dráha sa začala štúdiom vizuálnej komunikácie a pokračovala na prestížnych inštitúciách v New Yorku a Mníchove. Krauseová sa venuje rozmanitým umeleckým formám vrátane krátkych a dokumentárnych filmov, animácií a scenárov, pričom jej tvorba sa od roku 1985 sústreďuje na detskú literatúru.
