Príbeh sa začína konfliktom medzi Agamemnonom a najodvážnejším gréckym bojovníkom Achilleom, ktorého Agamemnón poníži pred celým vojskom. Po urážke sa Achilles rozhodne neparticipovať v bojoch. Agamemnónovo víťazstvo sa zdá byť na dosah, avšak bohovia majú iné plány a zasiahnu do vojny nečakaným spôsobom.
