This Element focuses on the circumstances in which the restriction of gauge theories to gauge invariant information on an observable level is warranted, using the Brout-Englert-Higgs theory as an example of particular current importance.

Focusing on experiential justification, this work explores how certain experiences provide immediate justification and contribute to scientific knowledge. The author presents a phenomenological experience-first epistemology, demonstrating its role in grounding individual sciences. By connecting epistemology to the foundations of mathematics and physics, the book offers a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between experience and knowledge acquisition in these fields.
