Egypt, 70 p.n.l. Zemí se plíží nemilosrdný zabiják. Jeho úkolem je vypátrat a zničit poslední členy starověkého řádu Medžajů – vyhladit pokrevní linii. Jeho smrt je podezřelá zejména písaři, který se svým přítelem chce odhalit pravdu. Kniha je průměrným historickým čtivem , které seznamuje se společenským a politickým kvasem před nástupem 19.dynastie, která pozvedla Egypt za Ramse- sa II. k vrcholu moci.
