Lev Vygotskij bol sovietskym vývojovým psychológom a zakladateľom kultúrno-historickej psychológie. Jeho práca sa zameriavala na vplyv kultúry a sociálneho prostredia na vývoj kognitívnych funkcií, ako je jazyk, myslenie a pamäť. Vygotskij zdôrazňoval význam sociálnej interakcie a jazyka ako kľúčových nástrojov pre učenie a kognitívny rozvoj. Jeho teórie naďalej ovplyvňujú oblasti psychológie, vzdelávania a lingvistiky.
