Madeline Millerová má neskutočnú slabosť pre antiku a grécku mytológiu, a tak námet jej knihy Spev o Achillovi tvorí jeden z najznámejších príbehov Iliady. Autorka za túto knihu získala mnoho ocenení, najvýznamnejšie z nich Orange prize for fiction. Príbeh Achilla rozpráva jeho najbližší priateľ Patroklos, syn Menoita z Opunta.
