This fifth edition of College Algebra maintains our objective of providing a textbook designed for use by the student. The skills and confidence the students acquire will enable him or her to succeed in more advanced mathematics courses (calculus, in particular) that are required in the study of engineering, the natural sciences, business and management.

This is a book to help children tell time. On each page, a visitor comes and asks for a different time on the clock; a fiery dragon wants a fireproof horse, Cinderella wants to make sure the palace clock rings 12 times at 12 o'clock, and Olga Octopus. On each page, the reader is instructed to move the clock's hands to a certain place. Several pages also have a hidden mouse under a flap for the child to find.
