Román sa odohráva v paranoidnom svete medzinárodnej tajnej organizácie, kde dezorientovaný hlavný hrdina, Islanďan Sliv, pripomína postavy z diel Jorgeho Luisa Borgesa a Philipa K. Dicka. Otázky o cieľoch konzorcia a o tom, pre koho Sliv vlastne pracuje, vyvolávajú zamyslenie nad tým, či je falšovanie reality len hrou alebo pokusom zmeniť minulosť pre lepšiu budúcnosť.
