Impozantní tank T-10 byl posledním těžkým tankem zařazeným do výzbroje sovětské armády a měl být nástupcem neméně impozantních tanků řady IS. Zcela také odpovídal Stalinově velikášské mentalitě. Obyvatelé Československa měli bohužel tu čest osobně poznat tyto tanky při invazi vojsk Varšavské smlouvy v roce 1968. Tvořily rovněž součást divizí rozmístěných na území někdejší Německé demokratické republiky. Tato kniha je podrobnou zprávou o historii a variantách T-10, popisuje jeho vývoj od IS-3, i politiku a komplikace související s jeho výrobou v různých konkurenčních závodech v Leningradu a Čeljabinsku. Sovětský střední tank T-54 můžeme považovat za určitý symbol studené války: jakožto základní výzbroj armád východního bloku byl nasazen při potlačení maďarské revoluce v roce 1956 i při okupaci Československa v roce 1968, stejně jako v mnoha konfliktech v takzvaném „třetím světě“: například na Blízkém východě, ve Vietnamu nebo v Afghánistánu. Elegantní a nezaměnitelný tvar tohoto tanku se tak stal symbolickým varováním pro každý národ, který tehdy měl v úmyslu vzdorovat sovětskému impériu. Na svou dobu velmi pokročilý stroj byl navíc z hlediska obsluhy relativně jednoduchý, což ho předurčovalo k dlouhé službě všude tam, kde byla armáda založena na povinné vojenské službě a kde měli vojáci jen omezený výcvik. Kniha podrobně popisuje historii a výrobu tanku T-54, jeho varianty, odvozené verze i nasazení ve světě. Nechybí v ní technická data, informace o výzbroji, fotografie, technické výkresy, detaily a průhledové obrázky.
