    James Goss je autorom dvoch románov zo sveta Torchwood a rozhlasovej hry, ako aj knihy zo sveta Being Human. Jeho audiokniha Doctor Who s názvom Dead Air získala ocenenie Najlepšia audiokniha roka 2010. James tiež sedem rokov pracoval na oficiálnej webovej stránke Doctor Who stanice BBC a spolupísal webovú stránku pre prvú sériu Torchwoodu. V roku 2007 získal cenu za najlepšiu adaptáciu v rámci výročných divadelných cien LA Weekly za svoju verziu románu Douglasa Adamsa Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.
