Ezop bol múdry Grék, ktorý svojimi bájkami ľudí učil, ako sa majú správať, čo robiť a čo nerobiť. Aby mohol vhodne zobraziť ľudský život a mravy, nechal vo svojich bájkach účelne hovoriť vtáky, stromy, divoké i domáce zvieratá, vlky, líšky, levy, voly, ovce, kozy alebo iné živočíchy a veci. Bohato ilustrovaná kniha. Nájdete v nej známe aj menej známe bájky s poučením, vhodné pre deti aj dospelých.

Ezop je považovaný za zakladateľa gréckeho bajky a patrí dodnes k najznámejším bajkárom. Podľa povesti bol Ezop křivo obžalovaný a odsúdený na smrť. Svoje bajky prednášal ústne. Išlo o krátke prozaické príbehy so stručným dejom, v ktorých vystupovala ustálená skupina postáv, najmä zvieratá a rastliny, ktoré preberajú ľudské vlastnosti a stávajú sa typom, nositeľom konkrétneho charakteru. Mnohdy sa objavujú aj skutoční ľudia a postavy gréckych bohov, častý je dialóg, ktorý dáva bajkám spád, posilňuje dramatičnosť a dynamiku príbehov. Každá bajka obsahuje na konci väčšinou didaktické poučenie. Ezopova tvorba sa stala postupom času známou po celom svete (napr. O silnom lve, O pyšnom orle, O chytrej líške a iné).

Ezop je považován za zakladatele řecké bajky a patří dodnes k nejznámějším bajkařům. Narodil se pravděpodobně jako otrok, po propuštění z otroctví hodně cestoval. Své bajky přednášel ústně, byly zapsány mnohem později. Šlo o krátké prozaické příběhy se stručným dějem, v nichž vystupovala ustálená skupina postav, zvláště zvířata a rostliny, které přebírají lidské vlastnosti. Mnohdy se objevují také skuteční lidé a postavy řeckých bohů. Dialog dává bajkám spád, posiluje dramatičnost a dynamiku příběhů. Některé bajky obsahují – většinou na konci – didaktické poučení.
